Yaw — Coach Bio

Yaw is a person who brings energy, enthusiasm, and hard work wherever he goes and he carries that when it comes to soccer. Born and raised in Ghana, he developed an interest for the game at 8 years old, where  he would often play soccer with players that were older than him which helped build his confidence and also made him work harder. He moved to the United States when he turned 17 to  focus on education and playing as well. Yaw tried out for MLS team DC United in 2008, but dropped out to concentrate on school to instead play College Soccer. During his senior year at Lasell University, he got an invitation for a one month professional tryout in Nuremberg, Germany, but instead stayed in school in order to graduate from College. 

Education & Training

Yaw attended Paint Branch High School ( Silver Spring, Maryland) and continued his studies at Montgomery College (Rockville, MD) and Lasell University (Newton, MA).

Coaching Education & Certifications

Yaw has a passion for Soccer and Coaching as well, and he is on his journey for his Coaching Career. He currently hold:

• U.S. Soccer Coaching License 4v4 (Online)

• U.S. Soccer Coaching License 9v9 (In-person)

• U.S. Soccer Coaching License 11v11 (In-person)

• SafeSport Certification

Coaching Experience

Yaw has coached several High Schools in Massachusetts including:

• Maimonides High School (Jewish), Boston, Ma August 2019-2022

• Matignon High School (Catholic), Boston, Ma August 2022-2023

Playing Experience

Yaw’s playing experience includes:

• Montgomery College Division I (2012-2014, 2X Region Champion and National Runner-Up)

• Lasell University Division III (2014-2016) (Playoffs)

• Worcester Warriors UPSL (2021-2024)

Yaw has one philosophy that he stands strongly behind. He thinks that whether being a player or a Coach, there is one thing we can always change and control, and will always be our “attitude and effort”.
